The presenters also work through case examples.

Pia Struwe, Investigation & Reconciliation Officer, Equal Opportunity Tasmania

About the Presenter:

Ms Pia Struwe is an Investigation and Conciliation Officer with Equal Opportunity Tasmania. Pia was admitted to practice in 1996. Prior to taking up her role with the Office of the Anti-Discrimination Commissioner in July 2000, Pia spent 5 years as Research Officer to the Governor of Tasmania, Sir Guy Green where she was exposed to the mastery of speech writing and the integral role of Governor in Tasmania’s system of government. Pia has completed many professional development courses in investigation and dispute resolution, including the Australian Human Rights Commissioner’s statutory Conciliation course, and the Resolution Institute’s Mediation Workshop. Pia also represents the Anti-Discrimination Commissioner on various State government committees relevant to the work of Equal Opportunity Tasmania and is actively engaged in all of the work of EOT. Pia is the current Convenor of the Tenants Union of Tasmania, having served on the Committee since 2014. 

Jason Wright, Investigation & Reconciliation Officer, Equal Opportunity Tasmania

About the Presenter:

Mr Jason Wright has worked as an Investigation and Conciliation Officer with Equal Opportunity Tasmania for 9 years. In that time, Jason has conciliated a wide variety of disputes, such as sexual harassment complaints, employment matters, and neighbourhood disputes. Jason considers assisting people to achieve their own resolutions, which they have input and control over, to be rewarding work. Jason is a nationally accredited mediator under the National Mediator Accreditation System, and has presented at National and State conferences. Prior to working at Equal Opportunity Tasmania, Jason worked as a lawyer at the Hobart Community Legal Service, where he represented clients in a wide variety of alternative dispute resolution methods.
