About the Presenter:
Ms Maria Dimopoulos is an internationally and nationally recognised expert on gender equality and violence against women with expertise in working with multicultural communities. She is a lawyer and expert on multicultural affairs with 25+ years of experience in cultural diversity, gender equity, justice and human rights and has worked as a policy adviser, strategist, community advocate, speaker and mentor. In 2008, Maria was appointed to the National Council to Reduce Violence Against Women and their Children. Maria was appointed as Deputy Chairperson of the Victorian Multicultural Commission. She has actively worked with the courts to address access to justice for women and children. Maria was inducted into the Victorian Honour Roll of Women. Maria is a recipient of an Amnesty International Human Rights Award for her work on the legal and human rights of women from CALD backgrounds.
