Awards – The Law Society of Tasmania

Each year the Law Society of Tasmania calls for nominations for a number of awards that include: the President’s Award, the Outstanding Pro Bono Legal Award, the Outstanding Committee’s Award, and the Early Career Lawyer’s Award. Tasmania Legal Aid also coordinates a Legal Aid Award. Nominations are to be made by December each year, and where there are suitable nominations an award is issued. Recipients of these awards are announced at the following Law Society of Tasmania Opening of the Legal Year Dinner.

The overall award guidelines are that an award may be made annually; to be eligible to receive an award, a nominee must practise or have practiced for a substantial period in Tasmania; and an award will not be made in the absence of a suitable nomination. Listed below are the guidelines for each award, and previous award winners.

The Society also recognises and congratulates members of the Tasmanian legal profession who have completed or exceeded 40 years of service to the legal profession in Tasmania.
