Outstanding Pro Bono Legal Award

The Outstanding Pro Bono Legal Award is presented to a law firm or an individual lawyer who has demonstrated an outstanding pro bono legal assistance activity resulting in improved access to justice for disadvantaged people in the community.

Criteria by which the Award is determined

  1. Outstanding pro bono legal assistance activity in improving access to justice for socially and economically disadvantaged people in Tasmania.
  2. How the nominee’s achievement in improving access to justice for socially and economically disadvantaged people has been outstanding.
  3. By a range of pro bono activities or by a single significant activity – The range of work over an extended period or work over a shorter period but of exceptional impact that demonstrates the nominee’s outstanding achievement in improving access to justice.
  4. The nominee’s outstanding achievement within the expected role of the nominee or an ingredient that takes it above and beyond the expected role of the nominee.
  5. Demonstrated impact as a result of pro bono work for ongoing benefit or reach – The impact on individual clients as a result of the pro bono legal assistance, including examples that demonstrate the impact of the pro bono work and how it has improved access to justice for the disadvantaged client.
