The Recorder of Titles will soon issue new Directions under the Land Titles Act 1980 introducing new requirements for Verification of Identity, Authority to Deal, Client Authorisation, witnessing, Certifications, and Compliance Examination.  This is a first stage alignment with requirements that also form part of the National Electronic Conveyancing System, the structured roll out of which is anticipated to commence in Tasmania in the second half of 2024.

The Land Titles Office will distribute a draft of these Directions and provide educational material to help conveyancing practitioners prepare for the transition. Information Sessions will also be conducted to assist with adapting to these new practices and procedures.  Further detail, including session dates and times, can be found in the below circular.
