Today the Commissioner for Children & Young People released her advice to Tasmanian Government on the age of criminal responsibility.
The Law Society has advocated for some time for the raising of the age of criminal responsibility to 14 and it supports the Commissioner’s advice in this regard.
The Law Society calls on the Tasmanian Government to commit to raising the age of criminal responsibility and to working with legal and social representative groups to ensure the necessary and appropriate legislative, policy and service reforms are implemented to give effect to this important change.
