Following the Court’s COVID-19 risk assessment process and as a measure to reduce the risk of exposures of COVID-19 disease within Court buildings, the wearing of face masks will be mandatory in public areas for all persons entering and working at Magistrates Court buildings and at Country Courts.

Face masks must be worn at all times in public areas including court rooms and meeting rooms, except if directed to remove the mask by an authorised person.

Exemptions to wearing of masks apply for the following persons:

  • Children aged under 12 years or a student at primary school, or
  • Anyone with a medical exemption which certifies that the person has a physical or mental health, illness, condition or disability that makes the wearing of a face mask unsuitable.  Evidence of a medical exemption must be provided on request when entering the building.

Other conditions of entry also apply and are detailed on the Court’s web site at this link: https://www.magistratescourt.tas.gov.au/coronavirus

We will not require evidence of vaccination status from any person on entry.

Conditions of entry may change in line with further advice from Public Health.
