NCN Board Expression of Interest

 

Northern Children’s Network Inc. is seeking expressions of interest for positions on the Board of Governance. 

Northern Children’s Network Inc. (NCN) has been providing quality care for children from birth to 13 years of age in Tasmania since 1975. NCN’s purpose is to support families and strengthens the foundations of our communities by delivering high quality education and care services for children. NCN prides itself on helping rural and remote communities build their capacity to attract families to their areas by providing childcare options. NCN works closely in partnerships with local and broader communities to support families and their children access vital childcare services.

As a “not for profit” community organisation, NCN is responsible to a Board of Governance made up of a diverse composition of volunteer community members with varying skills-sets, knowledge and experience. The role of the Board is to provide governance and strategic leadership including, but not limited to, responsibility for legal and financial decisions, strategic planning and assessment processes, review and implementation of governance policies and procedures, and evaluate the performances of NCN Directors.

The Board is looking for people with one or more of these skills:

  • Financial
  • Legal
  • Marketing
  • Management

Board members are expected to attend monthly meetings (at present, last Thursday of each month) at 6.00pm for about two to three hours, special meeting(s) and the organisation’s Annual General Meeting. Members are also expected to commit to reviewing materials including monthly financial statements and reports, supporting/mentoring of organisational staff, and assisting with marketing and management when needed.
