About the Presenter:
Magistrate Jackie Hartnett was Principal Crown Counsel at the Office of Director of Public Prosecutions until being called to the bench in 2021. Ms Hartnett practiced in the area of criminal law for over 20+ years. Magistrate Hartnett was previously the Chair of the Criminal Law Committee of the Law Society of Tasmania.
Philipa Monk, Legal Practitioner, Tasmania Legal Aid
About the Presenter:
Ms Pip Monk is a criminal defence lawyer, currently working at Tasmanian Legal Aid. Pip began her career in 2011 at the Legal Services Commission of SA, where she worked as a duty solicitor, before returning to Tasmania in 2013 where she began working for the Legal Aid Commission in Devonport. Pip has appeared in the Magistrates Court and Supreme Court for hearings, trials, pleas of guilty and disputed facts hearings; and as counsel multiple times in the Court of Criminal Appeal. Pip has assisted regularly in the Magistrates Advocacy component of the Tasmanian Legal Practice Course and has acted as a mentor and judge for the University of Tasmania Witness examination competition.

About the Presenter:
Ms Brittany Clark is a criminal defence lawyer who has been working for Tasmania Legal Aid since 2016. Brittany began her career in 2013 as the Associate to the Honourable Justice Robert Pearce, before moving to private practice at Worrall Lawyers in civil litigation. Since 2016, Brittany has represented some of Tasmania’s most vulnerable people, specialising initially in Youth Justice and Mental Health. Brittany has appeared as Counsel in numerous complex pleas, hearings and Supreme Court trials and in the Criminal Court of Appeal.
