The Victims of Crime Assistance Regulations 2010 were due to be automatically repealed on 15 December 2020 under the Subordinate Legislation Act 1992.  However, it is noted that section 25 of the COVID-19 Disease Emergency (Miscellaneous Provisions Act 2020 has postponed the repeal of these Regulations for up to 12 months and they will now expire on 15 December 2021. The Regulations need to be remade for the provisions to continue.

Before the Regulations are remade their provisions are being reviewed to see if any amendments are required.   Should anyone wish to provide suggestions for any amendments, it would be appreciated if you would forward any initial comments/suggestions to Sonia Weidenbach, Senior Legislative and Policy Review, Department of Justice, sonia.weidenbach@justice.tas.gov.au by Thursday, 12 August 2021.
