The Law Society of Tasmania and the Tasmanian Bar Association do not comment on the specifics of individual cases, as it is important to ensure natural justice to all persons if
allegations are raised.
Our members made us aware of an alleged incident after the conclusion of a dinner to mark the opening of the legal year.
There exists a Protocol for the raising of concerns between the profession and the Supreme Court of Tasmania. In accordance with the Protocol, The Law Society and Tasmanian Bar
Association have passed on our members’ concerns to the court and are satisfied we are being heard.
The Law Society of Tasmania and the Tasmanian Bar Association are aware of the importance of workplace safety and wellbeing in our profession. Our organisations have a zero tolerance policy toward workplace harassment and bullying. We have implemented a range of measures to promote and encourage the wellbeing and safety of our members and those working within the profession.
