Justice Sandra Taglieri, Judge, Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia – Division 2
About the Presenter:
Judge Sandra Taglieri graduated from the University of Tasmania with a Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Laws in 1987 before being admitted to both the Supreme Court of Tasmania and the High Court of Australia in 1989. Judge Taglieri practised as a barrister and solicitor at firm Butler McIntyre & Butler from 1989 to 1995, and then from 1995 as a partner at firm Phillips Taglieri. In 2009 she joined Derwent & Tamar Chambers as a barrister and was appointed Senior Counsel in 2018. In addition to her career in private practice, Judge Taglieri was appointed as a Commissioner of Legal Aid Tasmania from 2008 to 2012, taught as a part-time lecturer at the Centre for Legal Studies in the University of Tasmania from 2009 to 2013, and from 2013 to 2018 served as a part-time member of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal and member of the Guardianship and Administration Board. Judge Sandra Taglieri was appointed to the Federal Circuit Court of Australia (as it then was) on 18 May 2021.

Mr Garth Stevens is a principal legal officer at DPFEM. Garth was admitted 1996, and a solicitor at Legal Aid 1996-1998. He was a barrister and solicitor at E.R. Henry Wherrett & Benjamin from 1998-2014, Garth worked as a barrister from 2014 to 2023.
