This seminar is hosted by the Southern Young Lawyers Committee and presented by Jessica Sabapathy (Youth Law Australia) and Jo Thompson (Forensic Mental Health Services). This practical CPD session is directed towards equipping lawyers with knowledge and skills that enable them to effectively advocate for clients living with mental illness, and to better understand and utilise the functions of the Forensic Mental Health Services Court Liaison Officer. Specifically, the session covers:

Jessica Sabapathy, Senior Solicitor, Youth Law Australia

About the Presenter:

Ms Jessica Sabapathy is a Senior Solicitor for Youth Law Australia, and former LACT advocate who has practised throughout Tasmania in the Mental Health Tribunal, Guardianship and Administration Board, the various Magistrates Courts and the HMC Mental Health Diversion List, particularly acting for criminal clients who have mental illnesses and cognitive impairments in relation to their court matters.
