As part of their transition back to face to face visits, TPS will require a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) to be undertaken, and a negative result produced, to visit prisoners accommodated in the following locations:

  • Hobart Reception Prison
  • Launceston Reception Prison
  • Wellington Unit – Mary Hutchinson Women’s Prison

RATs will be provided by the VRC on arrival and the test will be required to be returned to VRC staff following the 15 minute testing time. These tests will be permitted to be conducted in private vehicles or outside the VRC, however, once the RAT has been shown to VRC staff, visitors will be required to remain in the VRC.
