In this session, Matthew Pawson, Consultant, and Melanie Kerrison, Managing Director, Rae and Partners, provide tips on ensuring efficient and accurate assistance to your firms clients by providing the best results for executors and beneficiaries whilst maintaining an understanding of, and consideration to, the emotional component of estate administration. This session explores the interplay between important legal principles and how they are dealt with in practice across a range of areas in drafting wills and administering estates. You will gain an insights into the legal issues and understanding of the practical aspects of the:

About the Presenter:

Mr Matthew Pawson’s career spans 20+ years as a commercial lawyer across Tasmania. He was as a Board Member and National President of The Tax Institute and was awarded Life Membership in 2018. Matthew is also a member of the Law Society of Tasmania, ALPMA, CLEAA and the J. Reuben Clark Law Society. He has a great interest – he would say passion – for teaching the law. He particularly enjoys mentoring young legal practitioners. In 2019 Matthew was appointed as the Commercial and Corporate Practice course convenor for the Centre for Legal Studies to teach post-graduate commercial law practice. He advises on high level commercial transactions, business structuring, governance and corporations law, trusts, tax, Wills and Estate Planning and business succession planning. You could say that he’s a human dream catcher, helping clients transform ideas and aspirations into reality while protecting their interests along the way.+

Ms Melanie Kerrison is the Managing Director of Rae and Partners. Drawing on a broad range of commercial experience, Mel provides clients with practical and commercial oriented guidance and advice tailored to their specific circumstances. With over 20 years’ experience of legal practice, Mel has developed a special interest in Property law, particularly in property development and real estate transactions. Her clients also rely on her experience in the practice areas of Commercial law and Wills, Estate Planning and Estate Administration. Mel absolutely loves her clients and takes every opportunity to listen, problem-solve and generally get to know them better.
