Deputy Chief Magistrate Michael Daly, Magistrates Court of Tasmania and Robert Fisher, Lawyer, Tasmania Legal Aid presented this session into the Criminal Law Conference 2023. Deputy Chief Magistrate Daly and Robert Fisher will discuss:

About the Presenter:

Deputy Chief Magistrate Michael Daly has been a magistrate since 2007 and Deputy Chief Magistrate since 2011. He is a strong advocate of the court’s therapeutic, solution-focused approach in Youth Justice. Prior to his appointment he was in private legal practice as a barrister and solicitor at Rae and Partners in Launceston from 1993 to 1997; and at Rae and Partners in Hobart from 1997 to 2000. Deputy Chief Magistrate Daly was admitted to the bar in 2000 and practiced at Malthouse Chambers immediately prior to his appointment to the Magistrate’s Court.

About the Presenter:

Mr Robert Fisher has been practicing as a criminal defence lawyer since 2014 when he began at Tasmania Legal Aid. He has also worked at Victoria Legal Aid, including in their dedicated Youth Justice practice. He currently represents many of TLA’s Youth Justice clients.
